Community Partnerships

Gerdau gives back to our surrounding communities.  We have committed employees who organize hands-on volunteer activities.  We also support food banks, shelters, research organizations and educational institutions, as well as other non-profits.

For more than a century, Gerdau has been committed to the social development of the regions where it operates. Since 2018, Gerdau’s social actions have followed the strategy of transforming realities through ENTREPRENEURSHIP in three pillars: EDUCATION, HOUSING, and RECYCLING. It is our belief that with decent housing, knowledge for personal and professional development, and care for the environment, we will achieve a more just and sustainable society. And why entrepreneurship? Because it empowers people who are committed to building a better future.

The Gerdau Volunteering Program is based on the belief that all of us play an important role in achieving the common good. Each Gerdau location has a social responsibility committee that helps identify and drive volunteer activities in the local community. Our goal in 2024 is to mobilize 15% of our employees to volunteer their time and talents to transfer knowledge and seek solutions for problems affecting communities.

Junior Achievement

We believe that one of the best ways to improve our future is by partnering with organizations that boost childhood development. Gerdau works closely with Junior Achievement, an organization that provides students with the training, materials, and support necessary to bolster their chances for success.

Interfaith Shelter

Each month, employees from Gerdau’s Jackson, Michigan office serve lunch at the Interfaith Shelter, which is a non-profit that provides emergency shelter and meals to people in need. The organization serves more than 65,000 meals each year.

United Way

United Way

Gerdau locations throughout the U.S. and Canada participate in United Way’s annual giving campaign. Employee donations support health, education and financial stability. Day of Caring is another way we contribute. This activity involves hands-on volunteerism at various non-profits.
