Gerdau in Chile Receives Award for Commitment to Sustainability

Press release

Gerdau's operations in Chile received special recognition from the Center for Research, Development, and Innovation of Structures and Materials (IDIEM) for its commitment to sustainability. The Company was a pioneer in Latin America to hold its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for Rebars and Rolled Shapes in order to make transparent the product's life cycle and its environmental impacts. The action took place with the support of the DAPCO program (Environmental Product Declaration for Construction Materials) administered by IDIEM. Gerdau's commitment to the environment is also reflected in its other industrial units. Currently, 89% of the Company's mills are certified by the ISO 14001 seal, which attests that it monitors the entire steel
