Christmas Campaigns are held by Gerdau employees in 12 countries

Press release

Gerdau is holding its Christmas campaign during the months of November and December. This effort of collecting thousands of toys and clothes and tons of food has been carried out since 2006 with the strong participation of volunteers in various units of the Company around the world.

In 2012, the campaign is taking place in 12 countries: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Spain, United States, and Canada. In 2011, the campaign had the involvement of more than 2,700 volunteers. More than 50,000 people were benefited with the donation of around 155 tons of food, 16,000 toys, and 7,000 articles of clothing.

Practically all employees of the units participating in these efforts worked hard up until December 21 to make Christmas happier in low-income communities. The organization of the campaign and the delivery of the products donated at the entities chosen were guided by the Gerdau Institute Committees together with its volunteers. For each item collected, Gerdau donated R$ 1.00 to the Committee of the Gerdau Institute of that unit to be invested in local entities according to their need.
